in a holding pattern

My partner and I have had a few discussions lately and decided to give up on the idea on buying in London for the moment. It felt like it was a full time job. Every moment out of work was spent looking on-line for properties, acquiring mortgage information, scheduling viewings, etc.

During the day, it wasn't much better. It was embarassing to be at my desk when estate agents would ring all day trying to acquire information and schedule events.

So, we have given up and decided to just stay where we are and save our funds in the attempt of purchasing something at a later date.

I am fine with the decision and think it is the best one, but the visions of my own place now seem so distant.

greece without the olympics

My partner and I went to Greece with his family, last week. We had a brilliant time. The weather was beautiful. The water was gorgeous.

My in-laws own a sailboat and leave it permanently moored in Porto Heli. There were a couple of days where we took the boat out. We sailed to a couple of villages for sightseeing. We also moored in coves and spent the day snorkeling off the side of the sailboat. It was fantastic!

We stayed away from Athens except when arriving and departing. It was a good thing. The chaos of the city was in the air. You could feel the tension as people began arriving for the events.

It was great holiday and a perfect break.

job anticipation

Well, I am on a six month contract that shall be coming to completion at the end of September. I spoke to my boss. He complimented me on my work, but informed me that due to budgetary reasons there will not be a permanent position awaiting me.

There is however the possibility of another position within my organisation. It would be nice to get it. Slightly different, but a good position. I should find out more about it when I return from holiday.

I terribly nervous about it. I think more than I normally would be because there is the expectation that I stand a good chance of getting it. How do you interview with people that you have been working for/with for over six months?
